Default Stock Flats Keeping Liners

I know there are plenty of "fender cutting" threads here, but I was curious if anyone has been able to keep the front and rear inner liners when doing it, and if so, how?

Fronts snap right back in. The rear ones are tough because they line up a little weird after trimming. That's why most people use the front ones again but paint the rear well after cutting the fenders.

if you paint the rear wells, do you sand it down or just hit it with some primer and then some black paint/bedliner

Before paint clean the wells out with a degreaser or alcohol and hit lightly with some grit if you want to.

Should do just fine, unless someone happens to stick there head in there

Has anyone ever tried a fastener like pop rivets or something?

If I do this I'd like to try and keep the liners

I got those Christmas tree style push in fasteners and reused them in stock location. Bought rivets, clips, and the other things and only needed a few.

The rivets are more on the outside of the fender that attaches to the inner fender.

I took my dremmel & carefully cut little by little what I didn't need making sure to not cut off the holes where the push-pins go so I can stick it back in there using the original holes. It takes some extra time and going back and forth, but it was worth it to me because it helps with all the crap that gets flung around when wheeling and driving on the roads. Some scheers work well too. Just remember, measure twice cut once! lol

Here's what I did (pics below), just cut the rears about a 1/2 inch out to maintain the factory mount points and I think they look fine. I wanted to keep the liners since I'm in snow/salt country. I did paint and bedline as if I was going to run without them though.
