Default Stock Antenna and Windshield mounted lights....

Jeepers' - i did a search for this subject before i made this post...but couldn't find the right thread.

Since i have large windshield lights, I have modified my Stock Antenna to follow the "A" pillar on my Jeep. So now at highway speeds or windy days this will cause the antenna to 'SLAP' the top of the pillar... very annoying!

Has anyone solved this problem? i thought there was a bracket that mounts with the windshield lights to hold the antenna clear. i think a light mfg. made it.

anyway - here is a picture of my problem.

Here is how I made mine work when I had large windshield lights. I have since ditched the large lights and changed out to a stubby antenna...

Check the HIDX bracket and see if that is what you are thinking of.

ok, i searched HIDX bracket and found a thread on this forum, which contained this picture:
the part on the A pillar is what i need.

Looks like i have to buy the whole kit to get the antenna holder.

this bracket isnt the one i've seen in the past, but actually looks nicer. Thanks and ride lots.

I cut a piece of 1/4" fuel line about 3 inches in length and split it down the middle. Wraps around the antenna, no more annoying banging.

I would just get a rubber stubby antenna. It's annoying when on the trails and the antenna is smacking the lights.

Antennax works great for what I use it for. I'm rural so radio isn't very good to begin with, but when I do use it, it works just fine...

+1 on the antenna x stubby.

I will say that around town there's pretty much no difference in the radio reception, however our in rural areas where I got only a little reception before with my stock antenna there is nothing coming through now.

You could make yourself that HIDx mount for $2 at Lowes.
