Default Steering Woes

Jeep is a 2012 JKU with RK 2.5 Flex, Evo gussets, Nitro sleeves.

Ever since my offroading trip to Southington Offroad, I've been experiencing some very flighty steering. The Jeep has a tendency to pull to the right, so I keep the steering wheel slightly to the left during highway travels (65mph +) Occasionally the Jeep will decide it's not going to pull right anymore, and pull hard left. This makes it very difficult to keep on the road, constantly correcting the Jeep's pulls. I've taken it for two alignments and the last one helped a little, but the issue is still there. I've quadruple checked everything in the front end for tightness, and everything is good. The only thing I haven't done is get a grade 8 bolt kit to replace the factory metric undersized bolts. Here's my alignment sheet.

I'm hoping someone has some insight on what could be causing my very annoying driveablity issue so I can continue enjoying my toy.

The hole in your front frame side track bar bracket is probably oval and is allowing the track bar to move. The factory track bar bends too, I replaced mine with a teraflex monster track bar and toed in my front wheels 1/8th of an inch and got rid of most of my bumpsteer

Get someone to sit in your jeep and start your jeep. Have them work the wheel back and forth. Now lay under it and you should be able to feel a the part that is wore out.

I have a RK track bar in the front. I believe I replaced the bolt on the frame side, but double checking never hurts. I will have someone sit in the Jeep. Thanks for the insight, I'll report back here shortly.

Hey what's up mike. I didn't make out too well. I had someone turn the steering wheel both ways to full lock and nothing abnormal in the front end. I guess I can still replace the frame side track bar bolt. Anyone know the proper size off hand?

I have a grade 8, 9/16 x 4. 18 thread with a nylock nut but u need to cut off some of the threads cuz it may be too long. Find out how much threads u need to cut off, put the nut on past the spot u plan on cutting, cut the threads off then u can wrench off the nut so it will clean the threads so u can put it back on

There is a huge post on this subject. Hope this help. Northridge carries a kit if you don't want to purchase them separately

I'll be ordering the Northridge grade 8 bolt kit, though I'm unsure it will help me with the issue at hand.

I replaced the frame side track bar bolt with a grade 8 w/ nylon locking nut and 2 washers, and it changed nothing. I should also note that above 70mph the Jeep picks up a slight occasional shimmy.
