Default steering stablizer question

i was wondering if i could just use one of my old shocks as a stablizer or if they were completly different from an actual steering stablizer

you could if it were short/small enough and were a hydro shock. essentially, that's all an SS really is

no. it is way too long and too big for the factory mounts. even if you could mount brackets to make it work, it would most likely get in the way of your diff and track bar. and even if you could find a way to clear everything, the rubi shocks are gas charged and they will always want to extend. of course, this will cause your jeep to have a pull to the left just like the guys who have fox steering stabilizers installed.

Shocks are not typically valved at 50/50 (bump vs extension ). Steering stabilizers are though.
