Which steer stabilizer to get?

A good functioning SS will help slow down wear on some steering components. Havent seen a modern solid axle jeep or truck without a factory SS. Its on for a reason and with my 35s i went with a 5100 stabilizer. No noticeable improvement but it will last a long time.

I just purchased the Fox ATS from offroad_elements (forum member). They have a great forum discount. Check with them before you buy. I already upgraded my other shocks to Fox dual reservoirs and decided to go with all Fox. There are a lot of good write ups on the steering quality.

I ran the Rancho for a while. Great shock and dampened well. Only issue was the push present with some gas shocks.
I now run the Fox ATS. Overkill but one hell of a shock. The through shaft design really helps keep the steering center and dampens as well as you want it being adjustable.

I understand all the potential problems with DW and have checked things out, ball joints, bushings, etc. Our local Jeep repair specialist, Jeep Doctor, tells me a quality SS has solved 98% of DW issues that he knows of. So I want to upgrade without shocking the bank acct out of $400.

I have to agree with other posters here. A stabilizer while it can help reduce wear on components is not the fix for death wobble. If you have it you have other issues to fix and a stabilizer will mask it. I have a 5.5" Rock Krawler lift with 37s. It has a draglink flip and set up as it is it needs no stabilizer. I do run one to help with wear and tear but it isn't required.
Bottom line if you JK is set up correctly you won't need a steering stabilizer. Research this forum, death wobble issues are covered tirelessly here. And they always comedown to something loose, misaligned, etc, not a lack of steering stabilizer. Look up Planman's info on death wobble, a lot of good info there.
