Default Steel Braided Brake lines

So I am hoping to gain so understand on steel brake line. I have read some articles on this subject but I thought I would ask from people that have them.

1)what are the benefits
2)what are the disadvantages?
3)Is it really worth changing over to steel brake line?

Hoping someone can give me some much needed insight.

1. They dont expand when you apply pressure to them like rubber lines do so they add a firmer feel when applying the brakes and they look cool : )
2. Some come with a clear pvc coating to protect them from the elements some do not. They can chafe other things arround them the steel braid acts like a file to anything it rubs on. They are also harder to catch before they fail. Rubber lines generally start to crack before they leak / fail. With the steel braid on the out side of the SS lines you cant see how the inner core is doing.
3. Is it really worth it? No unless you need longer lines for a lift or something. If you are rocking stock height then there really is no substancial gain to be had with SS lines.

Agree with above. Don't get them unless you need them. You won't notice a difference. You will risk getting air into the ABS, which is a total bit#h to fix and is not cheap.

I added steel brake lines when I upgraded to teraflex big front brakes. I tow a trailer at times containing a lawn mower or mulch. Slamming on the brakes, 35 inch tires, pulling a trailer, was not a good experience. Upgraded brakes and brake lines as a result. I have not noticed the difference off road.
