I've seen several JK'rs on here use them as DD's. According to Poison Spyder they are not officially DOT approved because the rock ring was built at a different location (that's according to the tech I spoke with back when they had their full shop early in 2008), not sure if anything has changed since then. His explanation was that they could not get the seal of approval basically because the wheels were built separately than where the rock rings were, all the DOT involves is following particular guidelines I which apparently require both wheel/rock ring be built in the same location, at least from what he explained.

I'd run them in a heartbeat as a DD, here in TX at least they are legal but places like NTB, Discount, etc won't touch your vehicle with them on. At the point of having Beadlocks though who would care? .

I run mine on the street. Alabama doesn't have any vehicle inspection program so pretty much anything goes. Just make sure and check the bolts holding the rings on. They will loosen up over time.
