what's the point when there is a perfectly good spare tire carrier on the back?

What happens if you get rear ended?
My spare sits 30" off the ground at the bottom - and if I get rear ended by a normal vehicle - my trailer hitch will really ---- them up.

What's the point of changing anything on a perfectly good Jeep. Because I can - and want to.

Shoot, guys... the Germans did this first for civvies on the VW Thing! I was always told that the spare was mounted in front to serve as extra armor against incoming small arms fire.

Kick ass. I'd want it relocated to the hood, too. Great idea.

don't the landrovers have cookie cutters for tires though? that's alot lower profile then my 35x12.50.

and coudl you imagine a full size tire coming at you through the windshield in an accident? that would hurt a little.

I crossed the metric size on RedRock's tire conversion (here: redrock4x4.com/tech/tire_calc.php) and that's what it converts to in a standard size.

Sure beats mounting it in front of the radiator - vertically on the bumper.
