I used a couple of heavy duty bungees attached to the seat mounts as I removed my rear seat.

Be sure to "treat" the tire with whatever kind of absorbent treatment you deem best - I had good luck with a baking soda solution that nullified the rubber smell rather well, but hot, humid days will still leave the interior somewhat reeking of rubber until you peel off with the window down.

mine was in the back for a bit, it laid flat in the back of my unlimited, I couldn't get over the rubber smell though.

I ran with mine in the back for a while, but only in the summer with no side windows, smell never bothered me.

I had plans to make a beam from the wheel well to the roll bar, with steel jutting out from there to bolt the wheel down to.

I'm not aware of anyone making an in cab mount, but it would be pretty easy to fab one up that secures to the rear seat mounting locations, bye bye storage space though.

The only time I lost a tire on a trail was driving through a mucky stream bed. I had thought about an inside the cab tire carrier, but that flat stank so badly no way I would want it near me in the cab.

Just food for thought
