spare tire delete? pros? cons? pics?

Right now I am running my 35 on the rear OEM tailgate... my wheel tire combo is only 85lbs so I might be okay (since I think an OEM rubi spare is almost 80lbs) I extended the rear bumper things so they make contact with my spare and right now it appears okay (I check it very often and rarely open my tailgate... maybe 3x a month)

I sold my damaged JK tailgate to a body shop that was taking the stamped "JEEP" from an older model tailgate and replacing the vented center section in the JK tailgate. Never saw the end result, but sounded like a cool idea for a unique tailgate.

Do you find that covering the gate vent fully affects the air flow of your vents? im considering doing this to my 4dr JK too and just putting my spare in the trunk. i keep seeing so many mixed reviews on whether or not the plate should have air vents in it as well or not

to each his own devises but to remove the spare from tailgate just to place it inside (the trunk?) makes no sense. Will you bolt it down to the floor? what are you gaining by moving from tailgate to take up space inside? if anything, buy a roof rack and throw it on top (makes about as much sense as anyplace else) removing the spare from the tailgate only makes sense if you leave it in the garage

...with the introduction of GlueTread I'm no no longer carring a spare tire in the Jeep unless it's a multi-day gig - the spare remains at base camp or on the trailer, and a few packs of GlueTread are now with the gear. Granted I'm on 40s with double beadlocks...and GlueTread might not be the best advised 'air-containment' option for a daily driver...but the rationale is the same.
If, however, I need the spare, a 40 will fit with room to spare in the rear, and I'm going to modify the tail gate with a 'bump out' so when closed it will completely surround the area of the tire that protrudes past the rear edge, and keep the soft top, tail glass, lock, etc. all remain fully functional. Should work great.
