i removed mine last summer. still haven't gotten the linex sprayed but i love running it bare like that. that material is very inconsistent in its application. some spots were hollow, some solid, some areas seemed like it was a harder more brittle material while others seemed softer and a bit more pliable. i left it for a while but it began to wear and chip from everyday driving. when i noticed massive pieces breaking off i started picking at it with my knife and next thing i knew there were holes in it EVERYWHERE. once i ran out of places to pick at it during my lunch breaks i decided to just remove the rest of it. air chisel worked amazingly and a wire wheel on the grinder took the remaining residue the chisel couldn't get. i would highly recommend covering your seats and dash with a drop cloth or plastic if you use a grinder. that grayish black dust gets everywhere. it sounds like a pain to remove that crap but it's really not that bad. plus it looks 1,000 times better when you get it sprayed

When I did my lining, I just removed the carpet (which did have some extra stuff in the front) and just left the heat shield stuff. My heat shield stuff was very hard and not hollow or bubbly like others stated. I used the green pad on it to rough it up and painted the lining right on top of it. I used herculiner and it has been there for a year now with zero issues. There are a couple crappy phone pics in my gallery.

after work tonight I went out and was poking around with it, and like you guys said, it was kinda hollow in a couple places, I got out my handy dandy scraper and started getting it off, the pass. and driver areas came off pretty easy, I did not try the rear area yet... will get to that later....
Now get some do it yourself bed liner and go for it this weekend..... I'm sure as hell not going to pay someone to do it for me!!!!
Thanks for all the comments....

I left mine in. It was hard as a rock so I don't realy understand the water thing. Maybe they changed it. I have an 07. I had the entire interior line-X coated around 3 years ago and its still perfect. I actually had it cleaned the other day for the first time.

I went two years with no floor mat/ mud catchers but finally added them this year. the stuff is still like new under there even with my feet rubbing on it working the clutch ect for all that time. Line-X is some really tough stuff especially for an interior.

FWIW.

That looks great. I've been using the mopar vinyl setup - with the goal of eventually getting it rhino lined.

Just curious, how is it to clean?

I pull the drain plugs, put the hose inside, and use a brush. Much easier then trying to get mud out of the carpet.

+1

Easy as pie. Pull plugs, use soft brush and water, air dry. Looks like new. I really mean it, looks just like it did when I drove it home from Line-X

I got the shiny Kevlar coated layer. Really tough stuff and stays shiny. Looks finished.
