SOS: Lower control arms...again...
The bushing on my LCA blew out again. I'm trying to put the stockers back on.
I took both LCA's out, and took off the track bar (For more leverage). Now, however, the bottom holes dont line up. I need to somehow move the bottom of the axle toward the front of the jeep, so I can get in there.
Any ideas as to how to get the holes to line up? I'm about to call a tow truck and let somebody else deal with it...
PS: My parking brake snapped off yesterday, and it's a manual transmission...

put a small jack under the front of the axle. Put it on the case, not the pinion. Jack it up until the holes align. Fix your P-brake first though and let it hold the jeep still. Put tranny in N so driveshaft will rotate as axle lifts. Take your time and be careful. You can do it.

Do I need to loosen the upper control arms? Or should the jack take care of everything???
It seems like putting the floor jack under the yoke will rotate the axle the wrong way... I think I'd need to put it on top of the yoke...

it might not be the best way to do it or safe. but its worked, if it goes to far. You can use the jack to rotate it back.

PERFECT!!!!!
The pumpkin trick worked... I jacked up from the front of the pumpkin, and the axle swung forward just enough to line up the holes.
Before I was just jacking underneath the the control arm brackets with no results.
I had nearly given up hope!!!
Thanks guys!!! Now just to drive it home to Massachusetts and dump it off at the dealer to deal with the snapped parking brake cable. It's already been in there 3 times for a sticking parking brake (the rear wasn't releasing, so I'd be stuck on my inclined driveway...)...
