I had an extra soft top given to me, so I had the back cut off and turned into a bikini top. Cost me about $150 because I wanted it done to be able to last and look like it was made that way.

So now I have a Bikini, that doesn't leak, and I can still use the Sunrider function.

How the heck do you get your headrests to fold back like that?
I followed this guys directions minus the actual removal of the headrest.

The headrest is still fully functional. it folds up and locks in that position. once the seat is folded it releases the headrest and thes stays in the down position.

Were you talking to me? If so were you talking about the top mod, or rear headrest?

The soft top fold-back. It looks intuitive, yes....but I could probably find a way to mess it up. :- )

All you have to do is remove the brackets that mount to the roll bar in the rear and put the right bracket on the left bar and the left bracket on the right bar. This will allow you to fold the rear section all the way back to the upper roll bar. However by doing this it does lift the rear of the soft top about an inch, so it is a struggle to get the rear corners to clip into the tub. Its doable though. Once the top is foldable, you just need to tuck/fold the access however you please and then wrap the rear corners around the roll bars. I used the stretchy elastic that holds the rear window up to do this. I then used the Velcro straps that come with the sunrider to hold the 2 rear bars together. This keeps everything tight as well.

I plan on doing a mini write up to post in the write up section with more detailed pics.

Bringing up this old post. Anyone else do this modification. Still a bit confused on how exactly Nelly did this? Maybe a lot different for a 2017 Premium Soft top.

I am debating modifying mine. As have a Jeep Backbone. Like the Bikini top look. But all Bikini tops are not the quality my Premium soft top is. And most do not have the bars to keep the top from sagging. Would like to do this, then in inclement weather attach the rear Jeep Backbone window.
