where are yhou getting the 6.6 figure from. Id guess at least another second should be added on to that.
Funny how perceptions of power and speed have changed over the last 10-15 years. The JK with a 3.6L can make it to 60mph in 6.6 seconds (8.1 in a loaded JKU) and that is monstrous compared the 11-12 sec 3.8L. A mid nineties sports car would lose to a stock JK in that race.
The JK is rather fast before throwing big tires and armor on it. However, comparing a torquey V8 to a 3.6 with a 6800rpm redline is something else. If you're looking for the HP, you have to drive it like a V6 in the 4500+ rpm range.

You think the's are bad go drive one of the new tacos with the 3.5, has absolutely no torque down below 5k. These motors make decent power for a jeep esp in a manual transmission model.

A goodly amount of loss from the crank to the wheels is the transfer case and the fact that the front axle is being moved as well. Those other trucks you listed have the front axles unlocked when in 2WD.

Don't forget the throttle lag, either. It's pretty bad on the JK. You can drop in a Sprintbooster to reduce it and get some of that "seat of the pants" feel back, but they're still damned pricy.

I have a 2 door rubi 6 speed with the 3.6 and 4.10s... mine feels like it has a shit ton of power, like it could jerk my damn head off lol. Coming for a 4.0 TJ there is no comparison. I'm guessing you probably have a 4 door automatic, i can see where these would be a noticeably slower.

My 2dr Willys/3.73 on stock 32" MT tires felt pretty stupid fast to me. I have a 2003 SVT Cobra that is supercharged from the factory and modded to 510HP at the wheels as well as a 2012 Camaro SS LS3. The cars are obviously much faster, but for a 4x4 Jeep build for off-road, my Pentastar is much more than I expected and in my opinion much more power than it needs to have! The only time it lacks power is at high elevation where a supercharger would help greatly. At 13,000 feet it makes about 27.35 HP (I jest, but it is really weak up there!).

some are getting me wrong here. I'm not complaining that it doesn't have enough power. My question is DOES IT HAVE 285HP? It definitely isn't as quick as my 2003 full sized chev pickup was with the same hp same gearing and more weight. Bottom end, midrange or top end it sure takes a back seat to that 285hp ls.

Fast?
I have a 15 2 door Freedom Ed. auto trans and 3:73 gears. No backseat and NO complaints! It used to be said that a vehicle was designed around motor, trans, body etc. Now many components are shared with other models. So, whats good for one may not really be good for another. When trying to make a purchase decision, you just have to CHOOSE WISELY. Otherwise all you are doing is settling, and you will find issues.
