Default Snorkles and winter.

Well it's that time of year. Just wondering if everyone runs the snorkles in winter? If so do you use the pre filter or just the normal intake? I have two hoods and both filters so I'm wondering what to do.

Thanks for asking the question, you saved me having to. I just have the ram air, no pre filter, not sure what to do for the winter.

i don't have my snorkel yet, but i've seen this asked plenty of times before. most people run the ram air backwards in heavy heavy snows or very wet snow, but most have never had problems running it forward. i've also heard of the pre-filter filling up with snow after driving for a bit, but i don't know how severe that was. i would also think that while the jeep sits, if it's snowing (or supposed to snow) i would tie a plastic bag or something around the top to prevent snow from blowing into it or piling up on the outside of it

i'd hold off on doing the swap until some actual snorkel owners can chime in. even better if it was another canadian or someone with high annual snowfall. don't go doing a bunch of work just because of what i said (unless others chime in confirming what was said).

how much loss in mileage did you see? most i heard from said it stayed the same or maybe even a tad better

I plan on doing it next weekend so i'll hold off untill then. Its not a big deal, it will only take me about 15-20 minutes if the wife helps with the hood. I went from 14/l per 100kms to 15/l per100 kms

My milage got a little better with the snorkel, and I have never seen 14 or 15 l/100km. Mine averages 11 on the hyway and 12.5 on daily routine. you must have shares in a gas station to be gettin 14 or 15.

Waiting for Triplejeep's answer. Revelstoke probably gets more snow than anyone else here.

I had that as well then it went to 13-14 when the 35's went on. Are you going by your dash?

the dash is not accurate, mine is out by at least 1 litre / hundred it actually shows better than the jk actually gets.
