Ernie, the typical community college reject who pretends to be an engineer on the internets, spewing his 'knowledge' to everyone because of a massive inferiority complex, oh and don't forget crawlin' the level 3 and 4 trails. Hardcore stuff. lol!

JKUR

It does level 3s pretty well and yes those are Sahara wheels and tires.

4s are with this, I trailer my wheels behind my Jeep and swap.

Okay,

I did attend CC, it was for History.
I did contemplate dropping out of Engineering School when I failed Calculus I 3x.
But I stuck with it. I failed English. But Aced Engineering.

Level 3s and 4s are pretty tough for a Stock JKUR. A leveling kit and 32s and Rock Monster 35s

Back on Topic.

I am digging this one alot. I will order the small canister and mock up an adaptor to let me connect to the late model aev snorkel, unless i find some cool looking aluminum piping that will follow the lines of the jeep in a simular fashion to the aev.Should be interesting.

Man I'm glad I can help. I'm super stoked you are building your own stuff. It's a lost art.
As I get older I've learned to appreciate craftsmanship! I wish I had more time.

Please keep us updated.

Here is a UMP inside a Scout, it's on another forum.
He does have a hood level scoop.
This is very efficient and an alternative to Snorkel if you would like it hidden under hood.
This is the set up I would do for my JKUR.
Ernie
This is not 'an alternative' to a snorkel... this is a snorkel...

2.5 microns. One seventh of a human hair width. That's smaller than the average dust particles in your home.
Such particle are carried in the air as if a pre-filter and a snorkel weren't there. I don't think that an air filter blocks them.

Man, I'm loving this. We are thinking and researching.
This is getting interesting.
Thanks for the data G!

The real question that i have since ur bringing it up, is a 2.5 micron airborne rubber particle even a concern to an engine? I understand that if they were being dumped by the one gallon bucket into the intake, sure there will be a problem, but just as light dust, in the same volumes that we are breathing them in, does it matter? Wouldnt they just be vaporized during the combustion event?

The canister style vortex boxes work well, but have to typically be very large to offer enough CFM. I ended up building a snorkel setup and went with a K&N Apollo in line airbox. It freed up a lot of space and had worked very well for the past two years. Used a custom battery tray to make it all fit.
