It's the nature of the beast, that you are going to cut somewhere in order to put the snorkel on. The only way I could see not having to cut is if Jeep would offer a snorkel as a option and it came from the factory with the hood already set up. I have wanted to put one on my JK as well, but will not start cutting into new metal.

Your best bet there would be to go with the AEV setup with their Heat Reduction Hood. They have the vent spaced right where the snorkel would attach. Costs more, but no cutting.

I think I remember seeing a new Wild-boar model coming out soon. Looks like it won't mount through the side of the hood

That is true. Not sure if it mounts without cutting metal, but if it does, it may be worth getting fiberglass, even though more fragile, versus cutting metal.
