Snorkel in snow? Could this be a problem?
I'm about to get an AEV snorkel. I like the look and after pushing some water fordings last weekend, I can't risk hydrolocking. I was far too close last weekend.
My question is this, I live in NH. We get a moderate to high amount of snow yearly. Looking at the design, it seems to me that the snorkel would/could clog with heavy or sticky snow. I worry I'd end up clogging the air intake or having melting snow drip down into the air box. Have other people had any issues or experiences with this who could give me some guidance?

I work in the Pocono Mountains and we get lots of snow up there. I've tested my snorkel with the ram facing forward and backwards. Backwards will keep the majority of the snow out for sure. However, even facing forward it wasn't a problem. After heavy rain and snow, or offroading in water, I usually open my snorkel's drain valve and let any water out.

I personally would worry about it when turned around and you are driving high speed on the highway. From an aero standpoint, you could be pulling a vacuum in such a way as to reduce the amount of air going into the snorkel. No personal experience, I would still be concerned at higher speeds.

If you're set on the AEV great and a lot of people have responded. I went with the RR for this reason.
High mount= spring/summer
Low mount=fall/winter
Just a thought.

I looked in to the RR and I really liked how it was put together. I did not like how involved the installation was and the high mount would interfere with my Rigid Duallys mounted on the windshield

I've had the AEV snorkel w/ ram air for the past 2-3 years and no problems.. If you know it's going good to snow and your JK will be parked, tie a shopping bag around it!! I keep a bunch under my seat.. Don't worry about it.. Pull the pin!! DOOOOO IT!!
