Default Snorkel - anyone into designing your own.

I've looked at the RR and the AEV - and so far ARB have not come out with one. Have an idea for one but want to discuss it. Got some things drawn up that don't involve cutting the OEM hood or buying a new one. Looking to relocate the battery - and possibly have the intake tube ducting from the rear.I've seen a similar setup on a Landrover in Libya where i used to live. I have a problem with fixing the intake to the windshield pillars - just in case I feel like folding it down for a 2000 mile drive and wearing goggles and a helmet - ( and of course getting tickets). Come on guys - get your thinking caps together. Also we - need an exhaust extension. Makes no sense to get clean air in and the exhaust is under water. Just a thought. And to make things better - let it be hydraulically or electrically raised at the push of a button.

i seen one guy take some pvc pipe and cut a hole in his inner fender next to the airbox. turn it 90 degrees and then cut a hole in his flender, routing it along the body lines and of course up to the window pilar. didnt look to bad, could have been a lot better with less connections.

if you dont want to attach it to the windo maybe make a bracket that attatches to the window bolts and run it up along side the window pilar. it would have to be of something like 3/16 and stainless to last.

No hole in fender - go down through where battery used to be and run underneath up to the rear- attach the intake and the extended exhaust to a roof rack ladder.

behind the hood there are 3 removable parts, held by screws ,,you can remove the one on the passenger side and use it as a mold to create a base for a snorkel, then screw it on the same place and store the original plate so when you want you can pu ti back on.

this will requiere cutting only on the inside of the bulkhead just behind the batery.

the snorkel body, well you can do it out of pvc then. hand model bondo to the sides to create a better look than round pvc , then fiberglass it and paint.

A good project.
