I hated doing the breathers for the tranny and t-case. F&$king things were behind the engine block close to the firewall. Took me literally two hours locating them, tugging around, reaching in with a blade, snipping them off all blind with just feeling around with my hand. Biggest PITA mod I've done to date but well worth the piece of mind.

By the way, I have the eBay AEV-copy snorkel. It's worked great so far...

It cost me only $170 shipped. Watertight and works well. Time will tell if it lasts. If it doesn't... hey I'll just buy the AEV and replace it.

Is there a color difference to the AEV. I have heard the ebay ones are a bit shiny. But I really like them because I'm a little tight for cash in college.

Yup I was tight on cash too (still am) and needed dough for other mods. It's actually pretty damn sturdy and slightly shiny. It's still got graining on it like an interior trim part, and honestly I like it a lot. I still have a full winter and summer to go through to evaluate how it holds up but the way I see it, I'm rolling the dice - if it works, I saved $180 over an AEV snorkel. If it doesn't, I try to get a used AEV or buy brand new - it drops into place of this eBay one in 5 minutes.

Extend the front axle, tcase and tranny to inside the engine bay near the firewall.. the rear axle you can extend it behind the passenger tail light

I picked up some 5/16 (?) breather hoses from home depot. Think it was around $3 for two feet, so i got four of them. Autozone was more expensive when i looked.

I am waiting till the rugged ridge one is released. If I were buy one now I would go with the river raider one.

All four brether hoses go into our airbox. Once the snorkel goes on, you're virtually water-proof up to your forehead. (at least for the AEV version - the issue I have with the River Raider (expedition) snorkel is once water crests over your hood, you're flirting with hydrolock)

There's a detailed write up in.... umm... another forum. Do a google search for "River Raider Offroad", go to Smilin' Bob's breather relocation kit, and click on the link there. It will link you to the whole nine yards. The install is an absolute ass-job. Be prepared to be frustrated and keep small children out of earshot. You'll be cussing like a sailor in no time.
