Default Smittybilt XRC-8 Winch Mount???

Need a little help guys. I just won a winch at a 50/50 raffle. I know, SWEET!!! But now I'm having trouble finding a winch mount. Anyone know of a winch plate mount for the Smittybilt XRC-8 that fits on the JK. I have a custom built Bumper so I won't mind drilling into it if I have to. The only one I found that Smittybilt offers is for an TJ and the mounting holes line up over the frame.

Does the winch mounting plate need to be secured to the frame in any way or would it be fine just bolted to the top of the bumper??? I never installed a winch before so I want make sure it's done right so no one gets killed when I got to use it.

I used the horbor freight winch plate and modified it slighty to fit the stock bumper. I'm not sure what your custom bumper is made of or how it is mounted, but the winch plate needs to bolt to the frame in some way.

Ok, thanks for answering the frame question! Now that I know that. How did you go about bolting the mount to your frame? I know you said you still have a stock bumper but I'm not to sure how to get it bolted to the frame. My bumper is made out of 3/16'' steel and is flat on the top with a grill hoop The end caps are made of 7/16'' steel. It is secured with 4 bolts in the front. Heres a Pic of what I have. Any suggestions would help. If it had to go though the frame I was thinking about drilling though the top of the bumper and all the way to the bottom of the frame and securing it with a really long bolt, but IDK???

Ok that helps. I'm not 100% but I'd assume you could bolt the winch plate and or winch directly to the bumper??? Unless u anchor the plate through both the bumper and frame???

And no, it's not a really long bolt through the frame... You cut a piece off the end so u can fit a wrench in the frame tubing to secure the bolt.
