Default Smittybilt Winch too tight?

As anyone else had this issue where the smittybilt winch actually pressed tightly against the grill... Enough to warp it a bit?

I have the Smittybilt SRC bumper so I am guessing the mounting holes were just a 1/2 inch off which is causing this.

It's the Smittybilt X20 12K winch

I'm thinking I may drill new holes in the metal brackets that support the solenoid and move it up a bit. I just don't want it to be a pain to get the front grill off when I want to install a trams cooler or other mods.
