skyjacker, procomp, teraflex, rough country help!
Hey everyone,
So I'm new here and pretty new to jeeps and offroading only had my jk about a year and loving it. I want to lift my jeep and get some 35's under it but my question is which lift to go with?? I hit the trails about once a week up in PA's mountains no huge rock crawling but some really steep hills and plenty of mud when it rains . I have a budget of about $3000-3500 for lift and tires. I was looking for something around 4" either skyjacker or pro comp but then started reading posts here and got all confused. I don't want to have to change any driveshafts or anything drastic and I'm having a shop put on whatever I get. (I don't have the tools at home) but here's the catch whatever lift I go with MUST be bulletproof! This is my only vehicle and I put on around 300+ highway miles each week getting to work. Any advice is really appreciated I don't know if I even really need 4" of lift but whatever lift it is must articulate well without rubbing the 35"s (if you don't already know there is not such thing as flat land here in PA lol even on the highway)
Thanks!

Going into detail with "lift talk" is a touchy subject for some reason on these here forums, so....with that said....this is all I will say;
ProComp - they should stick to the tires (which are great). Lift kits - less desirable.
SkyCrapper - exactly what I said, crap.
Rough Country - not too many people running this lift anymore from what I've seen, but from what I have seen/read - no go either.
Stick to TeraFlex if those are the 4 you're looking at.

First off welcome to the JK-Forum! I have two kits in mind that you may be interested in that would be within your budget. Give me a ring or shoot me a pm and I will talk with you.

If your Jeep is your dd I would recommend AEV. I have the 2.5 installed on my JKU. It is great on road and very capable off road. The cost to get it installed should be reasonable as well with the instructions being clear and the quality of the parts being high (I installed mine myself). If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Teraflex for sure.
I've run the others springs and lift kits. They're crap. Pro comp is worthless and didn't last a year before shocks blew out and springs sagged. Skyjacker was no different, but better then Procomp. Rough country is a very cheap alternative, but you'll get what you pay for. Most people who've tan their lift refer to them as rough kidneys, due to what you'll feel like after a trail.
Tera has a great variety of kits and great customer service.

I am a HUGE anti-Sky**cker advocate. Stay away from the lifts, they are cheap like HF cheap. I ran a 3.5" for two years and hated every minute of it. I wish I would have done more research before hand. Good on you for asking.
