How about some kind of side-carrying system that connects between the Hardtop and the Jeep frame? Like saddlebags on a motorcycle, only this would be above the rear fender.

Just put it in a ski bag and throw it inside, put a couple extra towels in for after (if the bag leaks).

Personally I think on the roof is the best choice. Drill it and deal with it

Just throw the MBRP rack on and forget it. Its a sweet rack, havent heard of leaks, and has internal support brackets.

If the road is gonna give your skis more abuse than when you're skiing on them, you're probably not skiing hard enough

Use the gutter style rack... I have one from our old 99 wrangler and they work perfect on my 08 wrangler. I dont know I am a boarder so I know my board will get hurt a lot more on the slopes than it will on the rack so I dont worry about it because I have never had an issue... and if you are worried about it then put a deflector on the front.

Agreed...You will never have to look for more storage again. This roof rack will hold anything you can throw at it.
