X2 I am replacing stock crossmember (mangled before skid install) with poison spyder HD CM $200.+, also have rockhard 4x4 skids worth the money. If you do any challenging R/C without skids Prepare to spend $$$ to repair. Cheaper to get at least EVO skids to prevent costly damage that Will happen eventually!

Just doing some mild crawling with only stock skids I have bent the crossmember that's supposed to protect the exhaust crossover up into the crossover and put a dent in the oil pan right next to the drain plug and bent the gas tank skid all to hell.

I got the Rock Hard skids for engine, Trans, transfer case, and gas tank (three skids) because at the front of the engine skid it mounts to the frame side of the engine mount so there's support at the front of the skid. I also liked that it didn't sit right against the oil pan like the Evo one did.

I think they went on well. I had to do a little bit of customizing on the shim for the motor mount on the drivers side. Other than that the directions sucked but it's obvious where they go. In with the little mechanical ability anyone should have no problem putting them in. I went with the bare metal and painted myself to save myself 300 bucks. All in all $1200 is a lot cheaper than a new transmission transfer case: the gas tank on a 2012!
