People around me by the hundreds run them. Every oilfiled worm takes their first check and buys whatever 4x4 their credit will allow and they promptly gear it out with Rockstars and Nittos. I've seen them on jeeps used for crawling, street driving, mud riding, etc, etc, etc. The universally known worst issue with them is tread life. Their "cool" patterns and compounds do not lend themselves to a long, quiet, good wearing life. Buy what you want and learn the hard way. The only people that "love" them are people that don't know any better, or have just recently bought some and don't want to accept they made a bad choice.

Every time I purchase a Nitto, it was cheaper in cost as compared to a comparable GY, BFG, Cooper, etc. Maybe the shop you deal with??? Wear? Again, the only tire in MT that I have seen last 50-60k miles. Never saw ver 40k with any GY or BFG. Northridge 4x4...... Trust them? Nitto Trail Grappler has become their staple tire. Call them chat a bit, you'll be convinced.
I've seen 80k on Michelins and BFGs on F350s carrying 3000+ lbs daily. I've seen Dick Cepecks (wouldn't run them on a jeep because of weight and hardness) run over 100k on oilfiled trucks. A Nitto getting 50k on a Rover is no feat man.

My dad has 140k on a set of Goodyear silent armors on a Z71 tahoe and they are still in decent shape.

I've never seen a set of Nittos past 20k miles on a jeep that the tread pattern wasn't totally jacked up on. The only ones you see on trucks past 20k miles for the most part are freaking bald or next to it.

The mud grappler is the loudest worst wearing tire ever made.

I've personally had the same set of Nitto Terra Grapplers on 2 different vehicles with a combined millage of over 60,000 hard miles with a 1/4" tread left. They were never balanced nor rotated. They were the best tires I have ever owned. Also one of the quietest. I've been told and have read that the trick to long life for the Trail Grapplers is rotation. 3-4k mile tire rotations.

You also can't compare a performance mud tire to a millage A/T tire. What type of tires were the Michelins and BFGs?

And to the OP: Go with the 315s D range tire. You will be far more happier with the extra width and softer sidewalls.

well then, should I take a PC of the trail grapplers on my jeep with 30k miles on them? And, no, they aren't my first set. Between 5 vehicles, I've run whatever was on those when I bought the vehicle then went to Nittos when I replaced the tires. And as for GY silent armors, you're comparing a street tire to an off road tire. Apples to oranges. But hey, as you said, you have never run them, but we should take your word for it.

Pics to come.

. 30,000 miles. No cupping, no uneven wear and 3/8" of tread left out of 21/64". Rotated 4 times since install. So, 10,000 over your statement and not bald, not near bald or "jacked up". Cheers!
