Default Which size Nitto?

I'm about to pull the trigger on some Nitto Trail Grapplers for my '13 JKU. I was wondering if you would go with the 315/70R17D (34.6"x13.27") or the 285/75R17E (34.09"x11.57").

I'm running a 2.5 RK lift and am a fairly light rig with just rubi rails, ace sliders and Terraflex HD hinge. I have 3:73 stock gears and a Superchips Flashpaq. I'll be running these on a 8.5" wide wheel.

I originally had my eye on the 315/70R17D but after looking a little hard I saw the 285/75R17E. After looking them over, here are my thoughts:er

- 315/70 are load range D versus the 285/75 which are E rated. I was originally looking at the 315/70 due to the D rating, however I wonder with the closeness in height but difference in width would make the 285/75 lighter in weight?
- The 285/75 are not as wide as the 315/70.....11.57" vs. 13.27". I thought maybe the less width would be better for my rig since it's a DD.
- There isn't much difference in height between the two......34.6" vs. 34.09".

So which size would you go with?

D load rating. The E's will ride firmer and are meant for full size trucks. Weight/size is basically not relevant between the two.

I would go with any other tire made besides a Nitto.

I'm running their 285/75/17 terra grapplers. They have been a great on and off road tire. Mounted on my RR wheels there 34" and under weight there 33.5". I went with them to keep the tire legally tucked under my fenders.

They are generally heavy, hard, expensive, and don't wear well/long.

Have you ever personally run them?

not sure what you're talking about. Nitto is the only tire I will run on a truck or SUV. It was also the only tire that held up off road to the weight of my land rover (6,000+ lbs.) and also outlasted every other tire I put on it. Cost? Every time I purchase a Nitto, it was cheaper in cost as compared to a comparable GY, BFG, Cooper, etc. Maybe the shop you deal with??? Wear? Again, the only tire in MT that I have seen last 50-60k miles. Never saw ver 40k with any GY or BFG.

Northridge 4x4...... Trust them? Nitto Trail Grappler has become their staple tire. Call them chat a bit, you'll be convinced.

Looks like you're comparing 35 vs 33 and E vs D ratings.

I would not put E rated tires on my JK due to the harsh ride associated with an E rated tire.

I am on my fourth set of Terra Grapplers (two on my Ram and one set each on my JK's).

Consider the 295/70 Terra Grapplers for a nice all around 33" tire or the 315's for a 35
