Default Silly question... Aftermarket hitch

Hat brand should I use? Does it matter? I used a mopar on my 2008, but it's like 2x what the other brands cost... Quadratec has several brands for about the same price, and some include the harness as well. Anyone have experience with any of them?

Also... Anyone wire their JK for a 7 pin trailer plug?

Yeah that's the same one I had on my 08.... Just got a 12... Don't really want to spend $180 for a mopar one if another will
work.

I'm so happy I found this thread as this subject has been bugging me for ages. I'm in the uk and my JK is due in two months. I plan on having a rugged ridge xhd rear bumper about six months later but before that I need to fit a tow ball ( that's what they call them here) with electrics to use on my thule bike rack. I've no idea where to start, my local tow specialists wanted about $1000 but to be fair I don't think they knew all the hardware was already installed on the JK (am I correct?). I would prefer a removable ball if it sticks out far like it does on my land rover. So I'll be running an xhd bumper eventually and 33" BFG mud terrains, but I've no idea what I actually need to order from the US to get this all to work, please help? Also, how easy is it to fit the electrics myself?

I think I bought a rugged ridge for my 08, it looked just like the OEM and has the keeper that holds the plug built on it for the wiring. It went on easily. I'd suggest the OEM wiring that plugs into the left taillight, easy to connect and route.

I have the Rugged Ridge hitch and wiring harness. Both work great, but personally I wish it stuck out a little farther. With the spare tire on the JK you don't have to worry about hitting it when you walk past the Jeep. But the spare tire won't swing out all the way with my utility trailor because it hits the trailors jack.

Mine is similar to this:

http://www.quadratec.com/products/12015_0013.htm

Came with the wiring harness - just plugs into the tail light harness behind the drivers side tail light.
Very simple to install. Instructions said to remove the muffler. I found that wasn't necessary.

I also purchased a "D" ring insert like this:

Very useful.
