I did this and absolutely love it. I only put it on the drivers side tho since I usually just look over my shoulder for the passenger side.

I'm most certainly biased, but I love our mirror bracket solution. I've been using them for about five years. No vibration and same visibility as on door.

Since you asked, not at all. Our brackets are engineered to work and look as good as stock. A bike mirror solution isn't going to give you that by any stretch. But, it's workable if all you care about is staying legal. In Georgia, all we need is one rear facing mirror. Side mirrors aren't needed to meet the requirements of the law here, but they are for good visibility.
