I have been trying to find an armor/step combo that I like, I was looking at the HighRock 4x4™ Slider Step http://www.quadratec.com/products/12542_202_07.htm . Like that the step can come down when you need it

I have these and they work pretty good, but I never use them in the down position.

I put them on my X only because I don't like mud flaps. That's all they're really good for. They really helped save my paint from this 3.5 mile (7 everyday) gravel road I have to the house.

I was looking for the same thing...good rock protection and steps for the kids. The LoD fit the bill perfectly. Check them out at Northridge...and there is great install writeup with all sorts of good pics in Project JK.

I've got a pair of Body Armor rock rails that double as side steps for sale in the appropriate section on the forum.
