Default Sickspeed shift knob

What's up guys. I really want to get the sick speed shift knob they say was made specifically for the JK 6speed, but at the same time I've heard contradictory information saying that there is no way to get the stock one off. I saw some videos on line of a few morons just pulling and hacking at it. Had anyone done this? I can't seem to even find how the new one attaches if I were to get the stock one off. I had a buddy put one on his tj and I loved the feel of it. (Much simpler install on a TJ) Is this worth my time and effort?

I hate making a big deal out of something as dumb as a shift knob. But I really like the feel of it.

I don't know anything about sick speed knobs, I went with speeddawg for mine. They use an adapter set up, so you could potentially use any knob that has a master thread, although it isn't a stock replacement it works pretty good. It really is easy to get the stock knob off, just twist and pull. If you can't get it that way, use a wrench under the knob and hit up with a dead blow. I would put a towel over the knob to keep it from flying.

To add with this correct technique, put the shifter in 2nd gear to keep from smacking yourself in the face. It will only take a few good whacks and the knob will come off. You can do the same for transfer case shift knob...

Took mine out welded a bolt to the top, then used a press to rebind it to a comfortable position.
