Lots of good shocks out there. OME shocks are nice, teraflex shocks are very good. There are different versions of bilsteins.

For some reason everyone on this forum goes with Fox or Bilsteins because lots of people run them.

I've never run Rancho but I've heard good things about them and I've seen them on my friends f350 lariat diesel which he uses for lots of heavy duty use. Came factory with Rancho suspension I believe. It's a great testament to their quality for people doing mostly street driving and heavy duty towing. No clue off road but if they can handle what my friend does, I think some rocks to play in wont be such a big deal.

I ran Rancho RS5000's a long time ago on my Bronco and I was very happy with them. I am thinking about ordering the Rancho 2" Sport kit with the 9000's for my Jeep.

So our 9000XL (the adjustables) one, people like them for the adjustability factor. You can have a soft cushy ride around town, and crank it up on fire roads etc....

Our 7000MT monotube has a different high pressure charge that the Bilstein, so the ride will not be as firm AKA "harsh". I run these on my JKU with 37's and love them.

I do know that a few guys on here went from Bilsteins to our RS9000XL's and love them... I am sure guys went from our to theirs.

Right now with our rebate that is going on until June 30th, you will be hard pressed to find a better deal on a shock for your JK.

What ever you do, look to a $75ISH plus shock, they are just an all around better ride for the JK platform.
We make a great shock at around the $50 mark, the RS5000, but for a few bucks more per corner, the performance/valving is just that much better.

If budget is a concern, how do the RS5000 sound? Are the better then OEM for ride, body roll ect on road?

Or am I no further ahead with these then the OEM and should just save $$ for the RS 9000.

I don't NEED shocks YET...planning ahead is all

Thanks
