Which shocks are better?
So the Jeep is getting close to hitting 95,000 and the shocks seem a bit warned out. So my wife said pick out a pair of shocks and that she would get them for christmas for me. Now my question is between pro comp es9000, Bilstien 5100, or Rancho RS9000 XL which sets are better? The guy at 4wheel parts said that Bilstien are the best, a jeep buddy of mine swore by Pro Comp ES9000, and I have read good things about Rancho RS9000XL. I just want to hear from y'all who have these shocks how you like them. I use my jeep as a DD. I do take it off road but it is mostly a DD.

RANCHO i've owned all three, the best riding ones for comfort are defenetly the Rancho 9000's. You can even compare them side by side and the rancho ones are way beefier too. Check out the recent reviews.
Second choice would be the bilsteins the pro comps are way too stiff.
Good luck

Pro Comp is a definite no. Bilsteins are ok. Agree with above that the Nitro Charger Sports are a great shock. I've never run the Rancho's, but I hear good things. They have a 90 day policy - if you don't like them, send them back for a refund.
P.S. Use Northridge4x4 and forum discount. You'll get a better price. I've been sickened by prices from 4wheelparts people have been tossing around, especially for robbery... I mean, installation.

The shocks that come with the Rubicons are actually pretty good. If your Jeep is still stock, you can pick up a fairly new set of OEM Rubicon takeoffs very cheap. Just check Craigslist and the forums for sale sections and you will find a set.

^^^Good comment. I immediately assumed he had a lift. If no lift, then I would agree that $70 for some almost new Rubi take-offs is a great way to go. I'd probably prefer that to anything aftermarket. The shocks were tuned for the JK.

Agree with above. If you are going aftermarket, I ran pro comp on my 2010 jku, billstein 5100 on two different jku, rancho rs9000 on my last jku, and ome nitro sports on my current jku. To me, the one nitro sport are the best.

This is my first Jeep but I went with the Fox 2.0 shocks and have been impressed with them so far...I had Bilsteins on my 98 Chev Pickup and my 2012 work Tahoe and liked them on both of those vehicles

I have 2.5 in BB but with shock extension adapter so I want to get shocks that fit the lift. I want something more on the smooth side so OME are really good? How do they compare to Rancho?
