Shock Length ??
I have a 2" Skyjacker BB and am now looking to add the shocks - Most mfg list by lift amount.
Any harm in picking a shock for a larger lift so that I may go from a 2" BB to a 3 or 4" spring lift in the future?
Anyone know what the min/max shock lenghts are for stock because I do see some shocks just listed by shaft length?
BTW, OME or RE Monotubes?
Thanks,
Jim

Wouldn't the track bar and upper/lower control arms keep it from popping out?
My fear is the opposite, that it couldn't compress enough and would damage the shock - meaning the minimum shaft lenght for a shock designed for a 3" lift would be too long.
Hope to learn...

I did some research on shock length for a problem I'm having over in another thread and thought I would list the details here as well since it took awhile to get these specs from some of the manufacturers (not everyone lists the specs on their sites or catalog) and I wanted to share with the forum. Anyway, here are some shocks that go with some of the various 2.0"-2.5" JK lifts out there (BB and coil). The list is not complete but a pretty good start if you're looking for longer than factory shocks for a smaller lift.

Subject: mx6 shocks
Hi, I want to put MX6 shocks on my 2007 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, Its got a 2.5 teraflex B.B. lift. What I need to know is which size of shock should I put on? and does tire size also come into the question. i'm currently running the stock 32", but gonna go to 33's or 35's. The info on your website show's there are one with 0 to 2" and then 3" to 4" lifts. thanks in advance...
Hi Randy,
Use part numbers MX6024 for the front and MX6155 for the rear. These are the right lengths for 2” – 3” of lift.

It looks like Teraflex now sells a 9550 shock more suited for the 2.5" lift under the part # 1554100. The previous shock sold with their 2.5" kits now lists as their shock for a 3"-4" lift (1554200). I updated this list although I'm sure there may be more options out there since this was originally posted a few years ago ...
