Default Shift knob????

Is it possible to change the gear shift knob on a manual trany. I have tried unscrewing it and it doesn't want to budge. And if I can remove it, does anyone know the size and or thread, or would a generic collar sleeve type work? Thanks for any help guys.

Good question. LiteGrip makes billet replacement knobs for both the gear shift and drive knob. So I assume there is a way to get it off. I am more intrested in a wood shift knob rather then billet.

It's not threaded, it pops straight off. I used a crescent adjusted so it's just a bit larger than the shifter, put it under the knob, and tapped it with a small hammer from the bottom. It popped right off.
