Default Shave you trunk lid?

As some of you might know, I had the opportunity to bedline my tub and console for my JK.
I know a lot of guys have done this, and I was wondering what they did with their trunk lid. I have one can of liner left, so I can spray it to match, but it's still carpeted.
My thoughts so far are:
a. Get some clippers and shave the lid.
Or
b. Apply fiberglass resin to the carpet, then sand it down once it dries.
Or
c. Take a grinder or wire cup brush to it and try to remove the carpet.

What have you guys done?

I think a wire brush and some elbow grease might take care of it.

I would bedline right over it....not sure if it's fiberglass or metal, too cold to go check right now.

with the wirebrush on my pneumatic drill, it rips things fairly quickly, but I worry about the substructure.
I think I am leaning towards this though.

Post some pics when you do it. I was curious of what people did with their cubby covers too.
