Default Setting of the front vehicule JK

Hi the Jeepers,

I am French and I live in the town of Sedan in the Ardennes and I need some information. Can someone give me the settings (parallelism,etc..) of the front vehicle, the JK Sports.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Willing to bet he meant Alignment specs? Translators suck. ... sometimes.

Monsieur, votre question a-t-elle eu quelque chose à voir avec les spécifications d'alignement de fin de devant ?

You're right. My american language is not very good, and you haven't the same words for the exact description.
Yes, my problem is to obtain the specifications of alignment for my front train.
Because I have a vibration problem since that I have installed my hight lift from "full traction". I have screwed all, no play in steering joints, changed my steering damper and I have had again this problem at 80 Km/h. I think maybe that it will necessary to adjust the front train, but I'm not sure that my mechanic has this values.
I hope that you have understand my problem!!! If not, don't hesitate to contact me.
Thanks again for your reply.
Regards

Have you re-balanced the tires?

Yes, the last week. I have always the problem at 80km/h after two or three bumps on the road.
My JK begins to vibrate and this grows up until I'm almost forced to stop me.

This sounds like death wobble (DW) to me. To fix this, you always start with the cheapest solutions first, which you already have done: balance the tires, and take it to a shop for an alignment. If the problem still persists, then you most likely have a worn out bush on the track bar ("Barre d’accouplement:" the bar that keeps the front axle centered from left to right under the vehicle) — it follows the same angle as the steering drag link ("Biellette de direction") from the passenger side axle to the driver side vehicle frame. Any play (movement) in these joints can cause the axle of the vehicle to resonate or vibrate wildly at certain speeds — for you it's around 80 km/h. The vibration will continue until the vehicle is almost stopped, then you can continue driving until it happens again. Every time this happens, though, it destroys the bushes on the track bar and other suspension & steering components, as well as being a danger on the road: get it fixed as soon as you can. If your Full Traction lift came with an adjustable track bar, check the joints at both ends for tightness and ensure the fasteners are torqued/tightened correctly. If you didn't get a track bar with your lift kit, consider getting an adjustable one from Full Traction or another reputable company, like Currie.

Please excuse the rough French translation of the components as they may be completely incorrect!!

Use the picture below to see what components I'm talking about, and you can follow the instructions to do a basic front wheel alignment as well. It's written for a TJ, but applies to the JK as well since they use the same type of suspension/steering system: http://4x4xplor.com/alignment.html.

I just fixed this problem on my jk by checking for loose nuts. I found my steering stabilizer was loose. (i hope you have one). And also a loose sway bar.

personaly i have always found the cause of death wobble (which is what this sounds like) is almost always with the front track bar. anytime i do any work on the front end where i loosen or take off the track bar i always make sure to jounce (or settle the front end by bouncing the front end by hand) before i tighten the bolts on the track bar. this always solves my problem with the wobble or vibration.

hope this helps you some what.
