Default Seeking opinions for the uneducated. Tires / track bar

I have an 08 X, 2dr. Everything is as base/stock as you could get. I'm going to buy a Teraflex 2.5" BB soon. And I'm wondering if I need a new front track bar (adjustable)? I've read conflicting opinions. Keep in mind I know enough to be dangerous.

My other question is how wide of a 33" should I put on 15x8 Soft 8s ? 10.5, 11.5 or 12.5? I was thinking about 10.5 to minimize rubbing? But it seems that there is more variety to choose from with wider tires.

Any help, and patience with a "mod-beginner", is appreciated.

You don't need an adjustable track bar and with a 2 1/2 in. lift the biggest tires you can go with are 35x12.50 so 33x12.50 will definetly work.

Are your tire going to be dual purpose? Daily driver and trails

If you are going to use them as daily tires how far do you commute?

I would look these questions before determining width.

I would go with MT 12.5" if trail only or commute less than 10-15 miles. If over 30 miles an AT at 10.5

They will be multi purpose. My daily commute to work is 13.5 mi. From what you say I could get away with the MT @ 12.5. So how does the width play into this equation? I get why the tread pattern would matter. And while I don't expect to go totally crazy off road, I was still looking for a tread that cleaned itself out pretty well.

IMO

as you go from 12.5 to 10.5 tire you get less noise, better mileage and a lighter tire. Also the same goes with moving from a MT to an AT. An AT will give you better mileage, less noise and generally longer tread life.

The longer you have to drive daily the more narrow and a AT like BFG will get you great mileage and excellent tread life. They are a great tire off road but if you are a mudder you will not like them.

I drive 25 miles to work and the BFG AT's work great as a dual purpose tire.

If you like mud and rock go with a MT. I have heard alot of good things about the KM2's.

Good luck

I am in the exact same boat as you with my 08' unlimited x.

Here is my shopping list so far, anyone have any insight?

5x 15" soft-8's

5x BFG T/A KO 33x10.5-R15

Teraflex 2.5" budget boost (sticking with oem shocks for now I think)

Any feedback or suggestions on this list? I am a total noob when it comes to automotive stuff.

I found the Cragar's @ Summit Racing for 39.95 Shipping for 4 to my house was a little less than $12.00. I bought the Teraflex 2.5" BB @ Northridge4x4 for 259.00 (shock adapters) with free shipping.

I'm not sure what your BFG link was to, it took me to the same place as the Cragar link. But, right now pep boys is having a buy 3 get one free sale. They might be able to get the BFGs even though that isn't one that they show on their wall or web site. Also if you are a costco member they are having a 70.00 off on a set of 4 right now. They priced the BFG AT 33x12.5x15 for me @ ~165.00/tire, without the balancing, valves, etc that go along with them.
