Superchip's will have the Flashpaq for 2011 out pretty soon. I suspect the only reason they don't already is Jeep made some major structural changes to the software running on the onboard computer.

About a month ago I took my Jeep in for service and they updated my 2010's computer with new software (updated the firmware is probably the best analogy). When I tried to use the Flashpaq afterwards it crashed and failed to update. I think this happened to a lot of people because the guys at Superchips seemed to be in emergency mode when I called to discuss the problem.

A couple weeks later they had it figured out and updated the Flashpaq's software to work with whatever Jeep had done. This probably means a 2011 update is on the way. I know they're also working on an Andriod powered Flashpaq. Which would be way better than the archaic hardware they're using now.

I haven't seen any definite news on the 2012 engines. So you probably did the right thing by not waiting. If you start putting off major purchases because next years model promises feature X, you can get caught in a never ending feedback loop.

 

Hi Crazyhorse. I'm not sure if there have been any studies done, but I know when I put my CAI and throttle body spacer on the performance increase was so subtle as to make me wonder if it was just me wanting there to be an increase after spending $600.

I agree 100%. The single best performance upgrade is new gearing. Especially if you're running bigger tires than stock. As I said in an earlier post, I bought a ton of mods, kept only a couple, and still wish I'd bought none and had put the money toward new gearing in the first place.

 

Thanks, I have always liked having something not quite on par with the "best" trim level and surpassing everyone else like I have something to prove.
