X2 - Thanks for keeping the thread on track, and for your follow-up reply. I am looking at running 35's with 4:10 gears. Your input was helpful.

I know you've dismissed the thought of a Flashpaq earlier in the thread, but for around $300 you can have a Flashpaq that WILL increase your mileage, WILL give you very noticeable performance gains, WILL program your auto trans shift points for larger tires, WILL calibrate your speedo for larger tires as well as many other things...reading and clearing DTC's (trouble codes), real time data logging to concrete your increased performance, etc. I'm just putting this in here for others that may be on the fence and trying to gain back a little lost power from larger tires.

Fair point though I'm not ignoring the gains a flashpaq may provide. It's probably a great product. I just wanted to start with physical air / fuel issues first. See what tangible gains I could achieve then move on to "stage 2" of the "search for torque". Given the modest gains from a sealed air unit and throttle body spacer, a flashpaq is likely next on my list.

BTW - I got the AEV flash programming kit with my lift. It did a pretty good job changing my transmission shift points, and calibrating my speedo for 35's. Anyone running oversized tires needs to have this done. It's super important.

So..... whats the best flashpaq out there? Is there a comprehensive thread with brand/type comparisons?

Will post pics of the sealed air unit this week.

Cheers.

There is only one "Flashpaq", and it is made by Superchips. There are other programmers (such as the Diablo), but I don't think you will get the same benefits unless you have the ability and equipment to create a custom tune.

As stated above, the Flashpaq is made by Superchips. From all I read, before I purchased mine, it seemed to provide the best results. The Diablosport tuner seems to very good as well, but is geared more for experienced tuners and highly modded engines (stroked, high compression, etc) and also costs quite a bit more.

As promised (albeit late), here's a shot of the installed aFe throttle body and sealed air box.

Did you disconnect your battery to recycle your ECU? I believe that this will allow you to see gains prior to your Flashpaq upgrade.

I had the aFe unit installed at the same time as the dual batteries so I assume so. I could have done the aFe unit myself but the batteries were a major pain in the butt. The tray alone needed two guys to shoehorn it in and the battery switcher / wiring harness required drilling etc.

So if I understand correctly you have made this purchase partly due to the climate that we live in? Were you concerned with elements if you went with a CAI?
I am currently trying to decide to bother with a CAI or not. Not expecting much of a performance increase but extra mileage would be a plus. I will also be changing out the exhast at the same time. You have me thinking that this may be the way to go.
increase in mileage and not worried about the winter months getting into the engine?

BTW it does look cool!!
