No, they keep the axle tube from flexing/bending, good when you have big tires and wheel hard.

no not at all if done right, it's in a couple other posts how to do it, in a nutshell you well an inch or so, stop, switch to the other side of the jeep, while someone else is cooling down what you just welded (slowly...wet rag), back and forth. Of course you could tear it all down and do it but it's too simple if you do it right to weld all of it place.

thanks Pearl, the gussets are for the C2's, keep them from bending with bigger tires and hard wheeling and Pearl nailed the rest
