[QUOTE=Merlin4979;2286070]You'll risk getting a ping, or pre-ignition, which is bad for the ol' engine. I wouldn't run a higher tune than the octane. If you want to run the 91 tune, I'd go with the 93 octane. That should help run the engine a few degrees cooler as well - a nice side-benefit.
Then why not just run the 93 tune?

I actually do run the 93 tune (thought it was 91). I noticed about 2-3 mpg increase over stock. But there are so many other variables to consider (tire size/gearing). These can make your mpgs look worse than it really is if they are dialed in correctly.

I set my tire size on the superchips, but I don't track mileage.
I gave up on mpgs a while back just wanted to run the best tune for 89 octane. I'm gonna try running 93 octane on the 91 tune for a little bit and then 93 in the tank and 93 tune to see what I like best.

Running 93 tune and 93 octane.
I am running 33's also with stock gears (3.73).
Unless I am on the highway at 60+ mph I am driving with OD off.
This keeps the tranny from jumping in and out of OD (very annoying).
That will kill your mpgs and the tranny. That is more than likely where my mpg increase came from.
