Default Rugged Ridge Light Bar experiences and uses

I'm thinking of buying the Rugged Ridge Windshield Mount Light Bar for basically using as an additional cross bar for roof racks on my hard top. It seems like it is would be strong enough. I love how clean it looks and how it was designed.

My two questions are for people that have this light bar:

1. Have you used it as sort of a roof rack for lighter loads such as kayaks and does it work well?

2. Does it add a lot of wind noise with either the hard top, soft top, or no top?

I just installed it... it was a bitch because the powder coat was really thick on one side but it's very strong and does add some wind noise.

i can't wait to get one bt I don't like huge lights on top. Are there smaller lights that work with this?

Is use it to carry my canoe. It is very strong and works well. I have a soft top and it does add a little wind noise. Not too bad though.

I was guessing it would add a bit of wind noise. It's a Jeep though.
Glad to hear it will hold some weight. Thank you guys for the input.

They have 5" HID lights as opposed to the 7" in the photo. Could go with the 5x7 rectangular ones as well.

I saw Castalone's JK this weekend and he has that light bar but his is slightly modified and looks like a pre-runner style lightbar. I'd go look him up and check it out.

Well I went ahead and installed the RR light bars on my wife's and my own JK's. I made some 1-1/8" crossbars and uprights from aluminum for the lightbar. This way it is the same height as the roof racks on the hard tops and I can mount any roof rack accessories (kayak holders). Also still able to remove the freedom tops. Rock solid!

I have this and it works great. I don't notice any noise at all.
