Rubicon step for wife. Not for rockcrawlers.
This works even better than I had hoped. Took the rub rail off and drilled out the back enough to get a socket on the nut, made a brace and put this together. The step came from Atwoods, is spring loaded and cost about $8. Made the brace from a jack handle I had laying around. Pics should show during and after.

You could use wing nuts lock washers and turn the top bolt the other way I suppose for a quick release.
You would have to add an additional nut on the outside of the top bolt to hold it onto the rail, a thin one would be fine.
