Hey,
I'm looking into getting a 2012 Rubi or Sahara. I was wondering if the 4.10 is a really noticeable difference over the 3.73? I do not go offroad much but I want as much power and acceleration I can get out of the new motor so which should I get? Thanks in advance for all the input. I love my 2010 sahara but hate that motor.

I like the looks of the sahara but the set up of the Rubi is hard to ignore.

If you plan on ever putting bigger tires on, and don't want to address the gearing later, I'd go 4.10 and manual trans. I have 3.21 gears w/ a 6spd and 33's. I spend a lot of time wishing for new gears...I planted a quarter in the back yard but still no money tree growing!

I was in the same boat about a month ago. Knowing that I can't leave well enough alone I went with the Sahara. The ONLY thing I regret for now is not getting the 4.10s although I'm sure down the road a re-gear is a strong possibility. Right now I'm running 33's on 3.21AT and haven't had any issues. Good luck with your decision but as many have said, base your purchase on your usage and not what anyone else tells you.

I don't tow. I like automatic trans. I have 33's that I will put on it and prob not larger than that.

I'm not too up to date on the Sahara's but I thought the only difference between the sahara and the X was the matching fender flares and hard top. If you're not interested in the Rubi, why not just get an X and build it up to suit your needs? I also think the Rubicons offer more than just 4.10 gears. They come with a Dana 44 front axle and lockers from the factory. You also get a little bit nicer suspension, or so I hear. I really dont speak from experience, since I own and X, but when it comes time to get a new wrangler, it will either be a Rubicon or X. Just my 2 cents

If this is truly the limit of your aspirations for your vehicle, then the Sahara with 3.73s will be more than good enough. If you are contemplating 35s or larger, you will want the Rubi's 4.10s and/or the larger diff. for larger gear sets. You can re-gear the 30 as I have, but since with the new tranny 4.10s are perfect for 35s and workable on 37s, the addl. cost of getting the Rubi is comparable to the cost of needing new gears plus you will keep all of the factory specs (FWIW). Lockers are another nice feature if you will be off-road a bit.
