Default Rubbing issues with 4.75" backspacing on a 17" wheel running 12.5" wide?????

I was told that I can't run a 12.5" wide tire on wheel with 4.75" backspacing or I will rub on my control arms.

is that true???

Might have some SLIGHT rubbing... but not that you can't run them. I would just get some wheel spacers and you'll be set.

Not true... I'm running AEV wheels with 4.75"BS and 12.5" wide tires and no rubbing on anything at full extension/stuff/turn.

I run 13" wide on a 4.5 backspacing and it has plenty of room, you should have no problem at all

yes, it is true on SOME TIRES. BFG's like what you have are really one of the physically smallest 35" tire you can get and, while i have seen them clear, some larger 35's do see some minor rubbing at a full turn and/or stuff. and, really, it's not that big a deal and one that a few washers on the steer stop can even fix. 4.75" of back spacing will get your rear tire side walls to clear the sway bar link ends and really, that would have been the only real concern.

I have an AEV 3.5 inch lift kit and 35's (BFG KM2's 12.5 width), with 5.00 backspacing on my rims. Absolutley NO rubbing. So, yes you should be fine!

It's my understanding that you should use aftermarket wheels with 4.5" backspacing or less, so I could see how a wheel with 4.75 backspacing would rub. The reason I say that, is because I run 17X9 XD Addict wheels with 37X12.5 17's, with a -12 (4.53") backspacing, and I STILL had to adjust my steering stops out about 5/16 to 3/8" to prevent my tire from contacting my lower control arm at full lock. As far as the spacers go, use them with stock wheels, but with aftermarket wheels, just get the correct backspacing, I'd think it crazy to go buy new wheels, and still have to run spacers to use them.

I'm currently running wheel spacers on my stock wheels and want to avoid spacers with my aftermarket wheels.

I have a 3.5" lift with flat fenders...so I have lots of room....just dont want to be rubbing my Control arms.
