As far as I know, it's made with the same thickness tubing (.120") found on most other bumpers hoops. I don't think it's weak or flimsy, it just seems light because it is not directly welded to the bumper like others, but rather comes as a separate "modular" piece. The outward position moves the point of impact further away from the grill, therefore IMO offers the most protection for the grill. If I were to hit a deer on the highway with that bumper, I think the outward position would cause my front end to experience the least potential damage. But that's just my opinion. The stinger version would probably fare even better in a frontal collision. I believe that my RR side armor is made from the same .120" thickness tubular steel and those things are freakin heavy and I've heard from other forum members that they can take a pretty solid hit without deforming.

Mine is inwards because of my winch, pretty sure if I put it outwards it will block the controller plug. I do like that look of it outwards though...

Thanks everyone for the input. I've gone back and forth over this and the almost dead even poll didn't help much lol.
I'm dropping the Jeep off today at lunch to have it done, I'll decide on the way there and post pics tomorrow.

Not a bumper owner, but IMO it looks better outward. Inward is kinda awkward looking

It's only 8 little bolts to unscrew if you decide to change it anyways. Really nothing to lose sleep over.

Got everything put on yesterday
First impressions are I LOVE IT. Just what I was looking for. Thanks for all the input.
Went with inwards for now, the wife really likes it this way, but I may change it up later.
