Question Royal Purple Oil Filter

So I was in pep boys today and they are having a sale on RP oil..

5 quarts and a RP oil filter for $49.99......

i know, i know, i need 6 quarts, but thats not my question, my question is has anyone used a RP oil filter, and if so what are your thoughts on it? I had the K&N filter and immediately got a startup knock due to the crappy backflow preventer on them.

is this a good deal? if nothing else i got 5 quarts of RP on the cheap!

WOW! Not to be a smart ass or anything but you can usually print out a coupon for the Jeep site even if the dealer did not send you one for 17.95 or 19.95 full oil change and filter, 26 point inspection and usually something else like tires rotated, windshield wipers, etc. All included for that price. ............. Or maybe I am just too cheap. lol

Is purple royal usually that expensive. That seems rather high. Is it really worth that much?

Ya, unfortunately it is. I changed mine today. Had some RP left over from a Silverado I sold last year and thought I would throw it in the Jeep (5W-20). I checked the price today when I bought the filter. $8.79 a quart here. I'm thinking it was around $6.00 a quart last year when I bought it though.

I run only wix filters. I am not sure who makes RP's filters. If its wix, you are good to go. If its somebody else (like fram), dont waste your money.

I use RP in my other vehicles 09'JCW mini and yes it is that expensive, but it's not necessary to change it every 3500 miles. i usually change it at 4000-5000 and I run the mini hard. Once I start using it in the Jk I'll let it go till around 7500 with no worries.
