Rough Country

Give reviews. I'm looking at this lift for my 2dr. Is the ride good?, was the install easy? Did you get anything else to go with your Jeep? like adj track bars? or control arms from another manufacture?

i talked to a very reputable shop around here about 6 months ago about rough country and turns out every shop in this area refuses to install their newer products because of liability issues. One shop said they did do one and took it off the next week because the guy said the jeep drove and rode horrible and sold the guy a teraflex 3" lift. Im not saying rough country is garbage but i definetly think you get what you pay for. Their cheaper 4" lift is a very incomplete kit.

3 weeks ago I put the 4" Rough Country lift on my Jeep. Here are my thoughts:
1. Parts are solid and of good quality.
2. If you do it yourself, use air tools. Makes it much easier.
3. Rent a pitman arm puller. Don't question me on this...just do it.
4. USE LOCKTITE!
5. Make sure to grease all bushing, ESPECIALLY THE ONES ON THE SHOCKS!!! They will squeak of you don't.
6. Buy the 4" kit without LCA and buy a set of Currie Adj. ones. (Thay are made in the USA, unlike Teraflex)
7. Ditch the front trackbar bracket and buy a JKS adjustable trackbar. This is a big one!! That bracket is simply not strong enough on the long term to sustain that much tension, especially if you plan to run 35's. No matter how much I tighten the bolts, the bracket would move at least a .5" left and right causing a problem with the steering. The rear bracket seems to be holding up fine but the front simply won't do. Get an adj. track bar and don't use the bracket. This goes for any kit that doesn't come with one, not just the Rough County.
8. Make sure cold beer is handy and your ball and chain brings food every now and then.
Good luck with the install. I had never done one before and it took my friend and I about 8 hours to mine. We really took our time and had several breaks.
