Rough Country
Just ordered a 4 inch lift for my 08 JK from Rough Country. Supposed to be here Monday. Most the people on this site seem to think that they're a decent lift, especially for the money. Talked to a local 4 Wheel drive shop here in town and he said that he wouldn't even install it at the shop because of the quality of the product that Rough Country puts out. This is my first lift and planned on installing it myself, but just brought it up in passing. Most of the stuff that I'll be doing with my JK is not all that radical. Mainly logging roads with a little bit of off road stuff. Aint planning on jumping the thing or anything. I guess what I'm asking is was this a good purchase? Is this lift going to last? Is the ride going to be significantly worse? Am I goin to have a bunch of squeaks every time I cross the railroad tracks that drive me crazy? Any comments would help. Thanks

Was planning on just using the stock stuff that comes with the kit. This is my first lift and will probably know 600% more about them than I do right now. Was planning on Putting 35's on it eventually. Probably next summer. Unless it looks totally goofy with the 32's that are on there now. Than will probably bite the bullet put 35's on it and use the 32's for winter tires. Just wondering if the people that are running the Rough Country regret there purchase or are essentially happy with the lift.

I live about an hour or so away from were Rough Country is located. I went up with my friend to get some parts from them for his YJ. I looked around a while and everything I saw up there looked just fine to me. I mean its no nth degree suspension but it is still a good company. I say screw the shop and put it on yourself. As long as you have a decent set of instructions it shouldnt be too bad. I've put on several 4" kits my self and it can get a little frustrating at time the first time but in the end it feels so much better know you did it. Just make sure you have the tire store aline it for you and retighten everything after a couple hundred miles if you decide to go that way. Anyway.. I think they are a good company.

i have the rc 4" lift and have had no problems. i put it on myself and it didn't go to bad. it was my first lift install so it took me awhile but now i am glad i didn't pay someone else to do it. i know some of my friends who have the lift have no issues with it. i have had it on now for almost a year and am happy with it. the only thing with mine is that i didn't get control arms with it. also i kind of wish i would have gone with the 6"

I had a shop install mine, but they did it for $50 since I bought new tires at the same time. It is my understanding that the 2.5" lift is pretty easy to install.

I like RC, and as soon as I can afford it I will get the 2.5 springs and 2.2 shocks to go w/ my BB.
Ben is a good guy and will help you any way he can.
Sorry SiliconTi, but IMO a 4" kit needs at least a 33" on a wider aftermarket wheel to look ok.
...like I said, IMO.
Here is my bud NITRORC pilot's rig on 5" w/ 33's... before he got his 35's.
